My question is, do you have any solution to my problem, to make D: drive show on defragment. I know there is some kinda way to defrag it manually from powershell (i searched on this forum), but for daily usage, i think is too hard to do. And it did succeed, it changed to my screenshot above.Īnd after i have done configure Windows, i wanted defrag the D: drive, and i cant find the D: drive on disk defragment, i googled it, and still have no idea what's wrong. And from that moment i confused, i did not checking the disk defragment yet, and decided to try once again to extend it. And btw the unallocated part is still unallocated after i did said no from the pop up.

Right after commiting the disk extend, a pop up from windows showed up and said something like 'not enough space for doing that' (i forgot to take screenshot lol ) and the 700gb part change to basic and the color is green like my screenshot. I did the extend volume by right clicking on the 700gb part and extend it.

And the left side (the 150gb part) is unallocated (before i extending it from disk management) from my recent Windows installation on hdd.Īnd then on the second attempt of installing new copy of Windows (because my sound driver not working on first attempt), i decided to extend the volume of the D: drive. For illustration, here is a screenshot of my disk management.īefore changed like that, the D: drive only partitioned on the right side (the 700gb part) and the volume is not simple, it was something else, i cant remember the name (I do remember the color is not green like that, it was something blue). On a first attempt, when I looking around, i can see my hdd partition on disk defragmenter. I ended up installing fresh new copy of Windows after failed to 'clone' or 'migrate' it.

You can't extend C Drive with unallocated space behind D Drive unless you delete D Drive in Disk management, but we can do it in third partition software Macrorit Partition Expert without deleting D Drive, try the following steps:

Follow Extend Volume Wizard to enlarge NTFS partition with unallocated space īut, if the partition ahead of unallocated space is not the partition you want to extend, like the following screenshot, how to change it to NTFS then, ie, unallocated space is behind D Drive, but I want to extend C Drive, which is also NTFS partition, how to do it in Disk management, I only find out Extend Volume greyed out in C Drive right-click menu?.

When we run Windows Disk management in Windows 7 or Windows 10 sometimes, we may find unallocated space, or free space is next the some partition.
